2020 Tournament Schedule

Short Mat Tournament - Feb 29
Starting time: 9:30AM
Location: Portland, location TBD
 
The 2nd Annual Short Mat Tournament where random pairings lead to a single winner.
 
Each player will sign up individually for the tournament. Scores for each game will be tracked and totaled for each individual, meaning an individual will be declared winner. 
 
If you would like to split the day, please find your own partner and sign up with them. You and your partner will be treated as one player.
 
Fee:  $25 per player
Practice: 8-9 am
Draw time: 9am and between each game
Start time: 9:30 am
 
Format: Game play will be determined by the number of entries, but we are looking at pairs or triples. Each player will play four games, with a fifth game final to determine the winner.
 
Bring your own lunch, snacks, and beverages. No alcohol is allowed in the Community Center. We will provide breakfast items and coffee.

Short Jack tournament - May 30-31
Men,  Women, and Mixed Pairs teams
Location: King City LBC

Bring your own pairs team and warm up that arm at the first outdoor tournament of the season, where the jack is always placed at the same/minimum jack length for every end, 21 meters.

Fee: $40.00 per player
Draw time: 8:30 am
Start time: 9:00 am

NW PAIRS PLAYDOWNS - june 20-24
Men and Women
Starting time: 9:00 AM*
Location: Jefferson Park LBC

The pairs play downs is a multi-day tournament, length and format dependent on the number of entries. The winning teams will represent the Northwest Division at the US Championships in Milwaukee, WI August 24-28.  Formats  for this tournament will be Round Robin (8 or fewer entries) or Double Elimination (9 or more entries). In Round Robin all teams will face each other once, playing up to two games a day, up to 7 games in total.  In Double Elimination all teams will play a minimum of two games and will be eliminated upon their 2nd loss. Either format can last up to the 5 days allotted for this event. 

Fee: $40 per player
Start time: 9 AM
Please arrive at least 30 minutes before start time.
Whites or matching tops & bottoms required.
In keeping with National Championship protocols there will be no practice (apart from trial bowls) prior to games.
Rinks will be reserved for practice on Friday afternoon, August 12 between 4 and 8 pm.

The draw will be posted at the NW Division website on Thursday and all entries will receive an email confirming their entry and their place in the draw.

RequirementsTo enter the play downs every bowler must meet the following Bowls USA requirements:

Rules and Regulations Pertaining to the Playdowns and Championships
    • Lawn bowlers wishing to compete in a Divisional Playdown which will determine the Division’s Representative to the National Championships must be:
    • A citizen of the United States;
    • USLBA member prior to the playdowns;
    • Financially in good standing for all bowls-related obligations;
    • Able to certify, if a member of more than one division, that they have not entered playdowns in any other division;
    • Willing to certify that they will compete at the Championships as that division’s representative or as the runner(s)-up in case of default by the winners;
    • Aware that any playdowns winner(s) who do not fulfill the above requirements may face possible sanctions from their Division.
Proof that any of the above requirements has not been fully met can be considered as due cause for disqualification at any level of play.

NW novice - june 27
This one day tournament is open to any new bowler who joined a bowls club within the last 3 years. Prize money AND bragging rights for the winners!

Men and Women
Starting time: 10:00AM

This is a singles tournament with men and women competing together.

NW CASCADIA CHALLENGE - august 1
Starting time: 9:30AM
Location: Jefferson Park

The 3rd Annual Cascadia Challenge will continue to foment interclub animosity.  Stay tuned for details on a bigger, more diabolical, team format pitting club based teams against one another for a fun day of bowling.  This year, we hope to get the Blue Angels for another fly-by.

Fee: $25 per player/$100 per team
Draw time: 9:00 a.m.
Start time: 9:30 a.m.
Please arrive at least 30 minutes before start time

nw Open 5's - september 12-13
Men, Women, and Mixed Teams of 5 Players
Starting time: 9:30AM
Location: Jefferson Park
​Entry Fee: $40/person


This event is open to all players regardless of club, division or country. 
​Expect to play against bowlers from outside the NWD.


Games will include singles, pairs, triples, and fours.
Each team will be combined in varied groupings for play in each discipline.  
For example: 
Day 1 am triples will be Players A, B, C
Day 1 pm triples will be Players B, C, E
Day 2 am triples will be Players C, D, E
Day 2 pm triples will be Players A, D, E
